He received the MS. degree (with honors) in Elecronic Engineering from the University of Ferrara, Italy, in 1996, and the Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Bologna in 2000. In 2001 he joined the CNR, working, as a researcher, at CSITE (now section of IEIIT-CNR) and, since 2006, as senior researcher. His research interests include multiple-input multiple-output systems, adaptive antennas, connectivity models for decentralized wireless systems, mobile radio systems.

Since 2001 he has the appointment of Adjunt Professor of Electrical Communication (2001 - 2005), Telecommunication Systems (2002), Multimedia Communication Systems (2006 - present) at the University of Bologna. He has been participating to several national and international projects and published about 70 international publications and conference communications.

Conference on Communications (IEEE ICC) in 2008 and of the Best Paper Award of the Conference  IEEE Intern. Conf. on Ultra Modern Comm. (ICUMT) in 2009. The paper entitled On the Marginal Distribution of the Eigenvalues of Wishart Matrices, published on the IEEE Transactions on Communications (2009) and authored with Marco Chiani and Moe Z. Win has been cited in the book Hightlights CNR 2008/2009.

With Alain Sibille and Claude Oestges is editor of the book MIMO: from theory to implementation, published by Elsevier in 2010.
